This is a book idea that I come up with in 2013. It wasn't published yet, but I'm still fascinated by the idea behind it. It is a picture book about borderlines. It consists of satellite images of visually astonishing land borders between independent countries or of former borderlands that are now part of the same country. These images are a testimony of cultural, historical or judicial differences between the neighbouring countries—or, unexpectedly, a lack of such differences. They show how different the same environment can be, given the ways the neighbours were or are governed, or the ways the land is being managed. These borders are often the scars left by wars or the evidence of cultural and historical cohesion of formally—or formerly—independent states.
